Welcome To Healthy Families
Helping to Create Bright Futures
New parents often need encouragement and support as they navigate the decisions and changes that come with having a baby.
In Healthy Families, we work to support parents like you by assigning a Home Visitor who regularly stops by and spends time with you, from the time your baby is born through the first three years of their life. Healthy Families can start to work with families as early as 28 weeks into pregnancy (the beginning of the third trimester) up until three months after your baby’s birth.
The Home Visitor helps parents track well baby visits and immunizations, offer community resources to meet the individual needs of each family and monitors development - gifting you with peace of mind. Below are some of the topics that Healthy Families works with parents on.
Child Development
It can be hard to understand the how and why of your baby’s milestones. With Healthy Families, we give you peace of mind by working with you to track baby’s development and understand the reasons behind their behavior. Together, we can ensure your baby’s needs are being met and set them up for lifelong success.
Culturally Responsive
Each family that Healthy Families works with is different from the last. This is why all services are unique and responsive to the needs of families.
Healthy Families takes every step possible to welcome families of all cultural backgrounds and meet them where they are. This consists of finding staff that are the best fit for the family, staff that are bilingual, or have common ground as we build a relationship.
Fatherhood
According to the US Census Bureau, 18.4 million children, about 1 in 4 kids, live without a biological, step or adoptive father. Fathers, like mothers, are pillars in the development of a child’s emotional well-being.
Healthy Families works to help promote the roles of fathers in their children’s lives by focusing on things such as the voice of dads, barriers to engaging fathers and why a father’s worth and presence are important.
Maternal Mental Health
Taking care of your mental health is just as important as tending to your baby’s needs. Having a baby is a life changing event that comes with many hormonal shifts and challenges.
Healthy Families can walk with you to ensure you continue to care for yourself and create a balanced life with your baby.
Primary Care
Having a relationship with a primary care physician can help you and your child. A family’s physician can be the first contact for your family when you need help with your child, help keep your family up to date on their vaccinations and help your medical home run smoothly.
Healthy Families can help new parents by discussing the importance of establishing your family with a primary care physician and vaccinations.
Responding to Family Needs
Every family’s needs, wants and goals are important. This is why Healthy Families focuses on your family’s unique needs.
We do this by focusing on goal planning for every family we serve. Each goal is unique to your family, whether it is focusing on child development, getting a new car, or finding housing or food security for your family.
