An Overnight Difference

What would you do if you became a parent of five children overnight? Who would you call? How would you feed them, get beds, toys, clothes, Christmas gifts and pay your bills?

Community Partners received a referral for a parent who drove across the country to bring their children to Indiana when they were on the brink of entering foster care after their other parent was unable to provide care for them. Community Partners connected this parent to resources they never knew existed to help in a time of need and kept them from an open case with the Department of Child Services.

The family received a food voucher from a food bank, referral for furniture and beds, glasses for one son, water and gas bills paid by two local agencies and Christmas presents donated by another foundation. When communities respond as partners, children and families thrive.
